Two major factors affect the climate of Ustka. They are the influence of land during southern wind circulation (forests rich with black pine surround the town on three sides) and the seaside location. Bathing season in Ustka is about 80 days long. The so-called marine aerosol occurring in the coastal zone is the main therapeutic factor. It particularly supports the treatment of respiratory system disorders, occupational diseases and allergies. The sea air is particularly rich with iodine, calcium and magnesium salts; negatively charged ions have beneficial influence on comfort, take a few years off age and add vitality.
Ustka meets all standards defined in the environmental protection regulations as regards permissible air pollution and noise level. The resort of Ustka is a perfect place for year-long treatment. The scientists say that “Ustka is a cure in itself”. This is thanks to the perfectly clean air which smells of pine forest and sea water. Seaside location, abundance of forests, iodine-rich air, peat deposits and saline springs contributed to Ustka’s being granted the status of a health resort in 1988.
